Lucknow Zoo Gets ₹1.91 Crore Boost for Eco-Tourism Development

Lucknow: The Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden has received a financial approval of ₹1.91 crore from the Tourism Department to enhance its infrastructure and promote eco-tourism. Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh announced the sanction on Friday, stating that the project aims to make the zoo more attractive, environmentally friendly, and child-friendly.

As part of the ongoing development works, several upgrades are being carried out rapidly within the zoo premises. Recently, new kids’ play equipment has been installed to provide an engaging recreational experience for visiting families and schoolchildren. These play structures have been designed with modern safety standards and international guidelines in mind, ensuring a secure and enjoyable environment for children.

According to Minister Jaiveer Singh, the overall objective is to transform the Lucknow Zoo into a major hub of eco-tourism and family entertainment. Once completed, the enhanced facilities are expected to increase footfall not only from the city but also from neighbouring districts across Uttar Pradesh.

Emphasizing the cultural significance of the zoo, Singh said, “The Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden is an important identity of Lucknow. We are developing it as a modern eco-tourism model. The state government is committed to offering children, families, and tourists a safe, nature-friendly atmosphere.”

The ₹1.91-crore project includes the installation of attractive swings, bamboo furniture sets, new signage, and water coolers, among other upgrades. The minister added that the goal is to create a green, sustainable, and world-class destination that promotes recreation while also spreading awareness about nature and wildlife conservation.
